Grum's rise to musical prominence went like this: not long after he produced his first track, The Hype Machine calculated he was the second most blogged act in the world (behind Radiohead). Grum grew up amidst Scotland's fascination for techno and trance, and also became massively influenced by Daft Punk, The Human League and Stuart Price. The result is what he calls "a real mash-up of French house, Italo-disco, new-wave, and soft rock." Features on leading electronic music blogs like Discodust earned him remixes for Late of the Pier, Anorak, and Tronik Youth. His blissful, bass-heavy first single "Runaway" was picked up by Aeroplane for their Mixmag covermount CD and featured on the play-lists of Pete Tong, Zane Lowe and Annie Mac.
